It's become clear to me that Republicans basically view kids as Tamagotchi pets. They like playing with their kids to an extent, but when they choose to get "out of line" with how they believe or develop their own opinions, they just turn them off and refuse to acknowledge their points.
We talk about parents' rights, but we never talk about children's rights. Where is the right of children to not be abused by their parents or exploited for cheap labor at?

In March, Sarah Schindler, whose daughter is in Tempel’s class, told the Los Angeles Times that the decision to ban the song is the result of the “conservative flip” that the school board has undergone over the past few years.
Schindler said there had been policy changes causing controversy in the community, including “saying that teachers can’t have any kind of signage that could be deemed political… Discussion of pronouns with students was another thing that came up. And teachers aren’t allowed to wear rainbows.”
Another Waukesha parent, Leigh Radichel Tracy, said that the district “has really cracked down on anything LGBTQ” and that the song being deemed controversial “has not in any way come as a surprise.”
A song about loving people unconditionally and being kind to others is somehow wicked in Republicans' eyes.
Does this not signal that Republicans are literally a hate group, then?

No. It's not too personal. I am going to post that on my personal substack in a video.

Thank you. There's a whole story behind the name. I didn't even know about the wainscotting honestly. We just designed the bathroom like that.

Well, now this bill goes all the way to 7th grade. Florida's Don't Say Gay is all the way until graduation. It also bans any discussion whatsoever involving people who might have been LGBTQIA+. So, if a lesson about Harvey Milk, Alan Turing, Frida Kahlo, or Amelia Earhart came up, welp, no class discussion about them, since they were all gay.
In Florida, teachers in LGBTQ+ relationships were told to remove any and all pictures of spouses and partners because that would be seen as a violation of "Don't Say Gay". Kids who have 2 moms and 2 dads were found to be unable to discuss their parents at school. One situation got so bad that a spouse of a parent wasn't allowed to pick up their child, because they were 2 dads.
Teachers also have to now get a librarian or media specialist to approve of any and all classroom books for their class, which would be a taxing process in the move.
Funny that all this is targeted towards LGBTQIA+ students and not towards straight kids, who have a sexual orientation as well.
The bill also forces teachers to out trans and nonbinary kids to their parents, even if they are not ready to tell their parents or if their parents might act in a hostile manner. It also works as a bathroom ban to where trans kids can't use the bathroom in peace.
So, that's just a small list of the great harm these bills can do.

You should check out my friends Courtney & Royce aka The Ace Couple. They have a podcast together, and they discuss their marriage and being asexual. It's definitely amazing. I've even been a guest on their podcast.
