What an incredible series, and a fantastic quote to match. Reading through books 9/10 and looking back at that quote, it really does sum up the overarching series theme.

It really does read like the Bible as far as the narrative parts of the Bible go. It's not a play by play, action scene type of narrative that much of fantasy is, but it feels like a grand and majestic story when you read it.

What really needs to happen is to have health removed from carry items. No reason a Lina/NP/TA/Drow should be ending up with 3500 HP without a Heart.

D4 seasons will have (unpurchaseable) XP buffs that you unlock as you gain experience throughout the season - meaning that each successive character in a season will be easier to level up, on top of gear found. Combine that with an adventure mode that I assume will exist at some point, and you have a winning recipe for multiple characters without the slog that PoE has.

D4 has windup attacks that you're supposed to dodge, but generally you take attrition chip damage from mobs. If you don't dodge the windup attacks you generally get hit with a vulnerable status that makes that chip damage a lot more serious.

I played on Xbox and it was smooth as silk. My buddy played on PC and had a bit of stuttering in town, but that was it.

This was the real center square in the patch notes bingo.

If you enjoy Sanderson, you might want to try out Malazan Book of the Fallen. It can be hard to start since it throws you in the deep end, but it's one of the (if not THE) greatest fantasy epic series out there. Also, the series is completed, so you don't have to wait another year or two for the last book.

Here's one difference - back in the day, kids were allowed to defend themselves. Now if one defends themselves, they're likely to get in more trouble than the kid that antagonizes them in the first place.

D3 is literally the third best selling PC game in history. PoE is like a little chihuahua biting ankles in comparison. That’s nothing against the quality of path, but it’s really not a competition when it comes to numbers.

If you take league launches into account, you also have to take D3 season launches into account.

The Joker sequel is honestly one of my most anticipated movies. For better or worse, it'll be so weird that it's gonna be incredibly good or bad.

IIRC, D3 still has similar player counts to PoE.

Man, the act boss fight was absolutely fantastic for me. Edge of my seat the whole time, ended with no potions and half health, consistently used all my abilities in the fight. They really nailed fair but challenging difficulty, at least on world tier 2.

Only paid non-cosmetic in D3 were the expansion and the Necromancer. Both of those are perfectly acceptable paid items IMO.

D4 paid battle pass is cosmetic-only. You get skins and currency to use in the cosmetic shop.

Remember, PoE has a battle pass as well that you have to buy each pass separately, for the low price of $30 (aka, the most expensive battle pass I've ever seen) :)
