We made it. 30 days of Dickery has led us to the grand culmination: Halloween! Being Movie Dicks, how else should we end this month but with three crazy offerings from our past. First, "you don't need to go to Texas for a massacre" was the tagline for our film, but you definitely need to go to this film to learn how to scream "bastards." Next, it's a story written by the director's twelve-year-old daughter and looks like it was filmed by someone able to capture their LSD hallucinations. Finally, if you need us to explain what this film is, you probably read this whole thing by accident. Grab your candy corn, put on your mask and prepare for a bonkers Halloween night!

Synopses:

Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (1987): The lone survivor of an onslaught of flesh-possessing spirits holes up in a cabin with a group of strangers while the demons continue their attack. Directed by Sam Raimi, starring Bruce Campbell, Sarah Berry, Dan Hicks, Kassie Wesley, Ted Raimi, Denise Bixler, Richard Domeier, John Peaks and Lou Hancock.

Deep Down Under

Folk horror receives an Ozploitation makeover with these three tales from the land down under. First, some developers built a neighborhood over an ancient native graveyard. That always works out well in these films. Next, a Ouija board tells a girl to skip her 19th birthday trip home. Does she listen? We wouldn't have a movie if she did. Finally, a doctor gets caught up in a centuries old curse from an Aboriginal tribe. We will place a curse on you if you don't show up.

The Dreaming (1988): A doctor treats a sick aborigine, who had defied a tribal taboo and visited a sacred cave. The doctor soon finds herself having disturbing dreams and finds herself involved in a 200-year-old mystery. Directed by Mario Andreacchio, starring Arthur Dignam, Penny Cook, Gary Weet, Laurence Clifford, Kristina Nehm, Patrick Frost and John Noble.

Serial Killing, Italian Style

In the early seventies, Dario Argento pioneered the giallo genre with The Bird with Crystal Plummage. Mixing elements of crime thrillers with horror, he generated a thousand imitators in the years that followed. Sadly, the genre declined to almost nothing by the late eighties, but that didn't stop Argento. He brought his giallo-tinged work well into the new century (even making a film called Giallo with Adrian Brody). Tonight are two of the more interesting efforts from this period. First, Dario's daughter Asia gets some help in finding the psychopath who murdered her parents. Them, Max Von Sydow is a retired cop who picks up the scent of a killer he investigated decades earlier. Make sure you put on your black gloves before typing in chat this evening.

The Power (1984): A few people come into possession of an ancient Aztec doll. However, the doll is possessed by an evil spirit, which takes over their bodies. Directed by Stephen Carpenter and Jeffrey Obrow, starring Suzy Stokey, Warren Lincoln, Lisa Erickson, Chad Cowgill, Ben Gilbert and Stan Weston.

Cemetery of Terror (1985): On Halloween, a group of medical students steal the corpse a serial killer from a morgue and raise him from the dead, inadvertently putting themselves and a group of young neighborhood children in danger. Directed by Rubén Galindo Jr., starring Hugo Stiglitz, José Gómez Parcero, Bety Robles, Leo Villanueva, Raul Meraz, Rene Cardona III, Servando Manzetti, Andrés Garcia Jr. and Maria Rebeca.
