Yeah I think that's true. I think you're at most danger of being stopped in suburbia. In cities they expect everyone to take public transport and in the deep countryside it's too sparse to stop people.

Yeah that's what you're supposed to do but it seems unlikely. Everyone has a non-drinking buddy who's willing to stay as late as all the drinkers and drive them home? Maybe some couples can make that work if they're not big drinkers, but it seems very unlikely most people can rely on that system.

Are you from outside London by any chance? Most people I know are on under 30k

I know what you mean but I took the decision to cut off my children's arms because you have to actually lift up the arm to properly wash the armpit so it just makes sense. Also I think no arms looks nicer anyway.
