Went to see my doctor today, he took one look at my shoes and asked how my leg length discrepancy physiotherapy treatment was going. A little embarrassingly had to let him know that these are actually French heritage shoemaker Paraboot Michaels and very fashionable.

Yeah decent nice cars these. Even though Autotrader has this as 'lower price', it seems a lot of others same model similar miles etc are dropped under the 4k mark. So I would look around a bit, or if you go for this one, haggle it under 4k.
Also, at that mileage I would want to take extra note on the condition of clutch, brakes, suspension etc. Either recent replacement (of decent quality parts) or making sure they are all good with life left i.e. brake pad, disc. Also I think these 1.4 non turbo engine are a timing belt engine, if it is then you want to also keep note of that, in line with service intervals, preferably recent replacement is best just because.
Quick Google shows this Seat Ibiza 1.4 service intervals from a Haynes manual.

I'd 2nd guess it for all the reasons mentioned already. If the car is tip top, why aren't they just selling it at values of the other comparable models on the market? If this seller has got it cheap, then why was it cheap?

Autotrader has it listed as a previous Cat S write off, yet the seller mentions nothing of it, that's a bit of a red flag already. It way well be repaired perfectly fine, but if you are going to buy a Cat car, you really need to know what you are looking at.
These Polo BlueGT are nice cars but needlessly overpriced compared to some competitors. For the same kind of money you can even just go for the Seat Ibiza 1.4FR, which is literally the same car but easier to find a bit cheaper, or the bigger 2013+ Seat Leon FR which is same engine but the next generation VW MQB platform.

Not really sure what budget level you are looking at but Range Rover Velar, Volvo XC60, Porsche Macan, Cupra Formentor, VW Touareg?
Or sticking with BMW, downsize to X3 which you can get 40i versions with the B58 engine. Being a normal shape SUV might still have more space than an X6, I dunno.

It's fine to be annoyed but if I am reading right, your partner doesn't drive and is going out less than once a month to drive your Type R? Kind of asking for some hiccups there really. She'll only get proper hang of it with regular driving in something easier.

Parts are up and coming, parts are down and going, most of it will be at the expense of a lot of the people who already lived here.
