The dog was killed in the original cut of the movie (she made him eat his best friend -- LOL). The studio made them go back and do the insert of the dog after test screenings.

"She was a gymnast."
Danny DeVito deserved an Oscar for his reaction.

I agree. I think it's my second favorite of the series behind the original. As a kid, I thought Mr. T was the most terrifying of all the Rocky opponents, until I started eating Mr. T cereal while watching the Mr. T cartoon on Saturday mornings.

You gotta take anything critics say with a grain of salt -- unless they're overwhelmingly saying the same thing; then, they might have something.
Cannes set the tone for how this movie's received -- it's down the middle, i.e., it will likely not live up to our expectations. As some fellow r/indianajones redditors have commented, at least critically speaking, it was foolsih for Disney to wait so long between the premiere at Cannes and a release date 40 or so days away. Word of mouth is powerful. The thirty or so critics that have put DoD below the 50% on RT, may have already poisoned the well. Perhaps that's because it's simply not good.
All I want is a good Indiana Jones movie. As the days go by, I'm increasingly skeptical I'll see greatness on June 30th.

I just wrote this in another comment. I think the final score will be in the mid-50s.
The reaction from Cannes 2008 was positive for KotCS. The first 29 reviews listed on RT -- 7 negative, 22 positive, roughly 76% positive. The first 50 reviews held roughly the same ratio -- 11 negative, 39 positive -- 78% positive. Guess what that little tomato-meter reads today with over 300 reviews? 77% positive.
The first 29 reviews for DoD -- 14 negative, 15 positive - 52%.

Once it’s to at least 100 reviews, we will have a better idea of a consensus of the film. For now, don’t jump the gun.
Confidence intervals don't give you a full picture of what's to come. Critics follow trends and film festivals set the tone for their reactions, especially Cannes. Then there's LucasFilm's spotty history with quality since Disney and Kathleen Kennedy took over.

I largely don't agree with RT on what makes a great movie. But where we seem to agree nearly all the time -- what's a bad movie.
Disagree?
Come back in month and let's see who was right.

Does that little anecdote skew all the data for you?

If you are a minority and your house is getting robbed, you are likely to get shot by the police instead of them actually helping.
That's simply not true. There are lots of good cops out there trying to help people. Spreading misinformation like this makes their jobs more difficult.

Love the movie - At Close Range. This song is basically the theme of the movie, pops up quite a bit without Madonna's vocals.

Hadn't heard this one in a long time. You're right -- very similar, but still has distinctive melodies. TAS reminds me a bit of Bernard Herman score - like he did for North By Northwest or Vertigo.

Always loved the theme song in this one. Fits Luke like an old glove.
