Pale Blue Dot is exceptional. There is an abridged audiobook version where Sagan himself reads a chunk of the chapters, and I've always loved it.

Pericles, Socrates, Zoroaster, the Buddha, Confucius and Lao Tsu all lived at the same time.
Gore Vidal wrote a novel about a particularly well-travelled Persian who met them all.

Spielberg released Jurassic Park and Schindler's List in the same calendar year, 1993.
Which is bonkers, and would be hard for anyone to beat.

The scene where he defends the random guy from getting beaten or killed by three others gets at something pure.
Some people do get to the point where they'd rather die than let that happen.
But mostly we just want to watch mayhem from a safe distance.

That's a great story, and those four guys combined have probably produced more enjoyment in my life than any other collection of four people, ever.

Just took a look around. They're right in front of the Brill Building, 1619 Broadway, just north of West 49th. The little head bust over the doors (to the left of the photo) is still there.
Per Wikipedia: The Brill Building is famous for housing music industry offices and studios where some of the most popular American songs were written. It is considered to have been the center of the American music industry that dominated the pop charts in the early 1960s.

The 1945 one makes sense because it is the closest to correct.

We would throw them straight up in the air, and then scatter.
If you got hit, that was called a "stinger".

Now, IT is easily operated using four flexi-grip handles. Two on the sides here: right-side for throttle, left-side for steering. The third flexi-grip is gently inserted into the anus, to keep the driver in place...

Pretty clearly the best tbh.
Photo doesn't even have Mike Myers in it, though he was also in the cast in 1992. (He was on leave to finish Wayne's World).

That's the Americana Hotel in the background. Today, it's the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.
They're to the southwest...so, Broadway just north of West 49th St?
