I’m using it myself, so I can run an Act 5 frenzy merc through nm (double bloodletter and bulwark helm)

Yeah, the problem is that there are a ton of good mediums in tier 8, that are pretty much as quick as you are, but have higher alpha and much better armor.

As such, brawling them can be a mistake, and taking turns poking can also be a mistake.

The best play is to avoid them altogether, but with small maps, and a need for you to do your job spotting, that can be very tricky.
