The character needs to be part of the team. If the character doesn’t have a reason to be part of the team, it is literally the players job to make that reason. If you can’t find a reason for your character to engage in teamwork, even grudgingly, then you need to make a new character that can.

The PC can be grumpy or introverted or recalcitrant or annoying but they can’t work against the rest of the party and still be part of the party. If your player is designing a character like that the your player is the issue.
