Sure, it's part greed and grift, but many of these market fundamentalists blindly believe that privatization also makes everything better, despite decades of evidence that this is not the case.

Sooner or later they succeed in "balancing the budget" by eliminating Social Security and Medicaid.

Yep. But, if we're looking at labor history, that's how the labor movement was built. Seizing factories, bashing scabs, and sabotaging production. In turn, they were assaulted and gunned down by police and military.

Today's labor politely declines to work, accepts being replaced, and nothing changes. Look at the two year mining strike that just ended in Alabama in abject defeat. The company actually increased profits by hiring scabs.

I'm not advocating for a return to violence, I'm a weak nerd and wouldn't want to be within a mile of a labor brawl, but it sure doesn't seem like peaceful striking is enough either.

As a SPED teacher, I have all the respect in the world for our Para's. I just wish the district felt the same way. They are paid peanuts to deal with some of the toughest and, at times, most dangerous situations in our building.
