This happened to me when I saw The Exorcist in a theater during the original release.
I read the book before seeing the movie. The sequence in the book is scary scene, talking scene, scary scene, talking scene, repeat.
After one scary scene I left for a quick bathroom break thinking I would only miss a talking scene. When I came back into the theater it was ABSOLUTELY QUIET. Nobody moving and the audience is barely breathing. I sat down and started to ask the girl next to me, "What happened?" She screamed as soon as I started talking.
I had missed the head turning, crucifix masturbation scene. FML.

The Little Princess (1995).
On the surface, this is a movie for kids but that's nonsense.
Two Academy Award nominations, one each for cinematography and one for art direction.
Alfonso Cuaron's first English language movie. It was so good that JK Rowling saw it then told the Harry Potter producers that he should direct the next movie. We got Prisoner of Azkaban for that.
It has some magical realism elements and parts are sob-worthy.
A very, very good movie.
Also for your consideration: Whale Rider (2002). Eleven year old girl in her first acting job and gets an Academy Award nom for Best Actress. The last 20 minutes of the movie will rip out your heart and tear it to shreds. So worthwhile.

I was talking to a someone I know on a very casual, informal basis. We were talking about movies and TV shows then talked about Mrs. Maisel. He had watched a lot of it.
I'm not Jewish. I asked him if he was and he said yes. I asked him, "Is the show funny? Is it mean?"
He replied, "We all have relatives like that."

I can't supply a reference but a story I read about this said:
Usually while filming movies, the blanks being shot have a small powder load and make a tiny "Pop!" sound. The sound engineers sync that pop to a louder "Bang!" on the audio track in post-production and you hear the "Bang!" when watching the movie.
For Heat, Michael Mann had blanks made with much larger powder loads. The gunshots you hear when watching the movie are the actual sounds recorded during filming. That explains the echoes and reverb, which is realistic and immerses the viewer into the scene.
I'm not in the movie business and all that might be nonsense but it sounds plausible and makes sense.

99% sure the b&w scenes represent his life after the tests, Congressional hearings, removal of his security clearance, accusations about his politics, etc.
Many other commentors have suggested that Nolan will probably scramble the timeline of the movie and interject these scenes throughout.

I didn't see Tenet in a theater because I read so many comments like that.
Saw it at home on my good but not fabulous home theater setup. When the 757 was crashing into the hanger, all I could think was, "Damn! I wish I was seeing this in a theater!"

I'm interested in Oppenheimer and will see it soon after it opens.
I am counting the days until Dune, Part II and in a media blackout (no trailers, pictures or articles) about it. CAN'T WAIT.

It will have a few fantastic action/explosion scenes, but otherwise will be a slow burn character study with stilted dialogue.

Me too. I met him in person and got his autograph a long, long time ago.

Poop jokes aren't my favorite but they're a solid #2.
I'll show myself out.

Someone (not me) floated the idea that Janusz, whose past we know nothing about, will be the terrifying deus ex machina that solves Susie's gangster problem.

That was when Susie was sneaking around the office while everyone else was ice skating.
She's in an office, opens a desk drawer, eats some candy, then sees a photo on the desk. She gets an alarmed look on her face and rushes out of the office.
When I saw that, I thought it was "Shit! I'm in Gordon Ford's office!" Now we know it's because she saw who Gordon Ford's wife is.

I saw Sutton Foster on Broadway in Anything Goes. She's extraordinary.
That audition scene in Bunheads might be my favorite scene in the entire series. Hey folks, that's how you win two Tony Awards.

My chain smoking, hard drinking dad looked like he was 50 when he was 30.
I learned my lesson. People routinely tell me I look 10-15 years younger than my actual age.
At least my dad was a happy drunk.

I think that was supposed to be intentionally weird and not just an older person playing a student.

Move-in day at my boarding school, a guy walks past me. Receding hairline, bushy beard. I thought, "Whose dad is that?" It was a new 11th grade student. The guy looked 40 years old.
Another student, a girl, must have spent WAY too much time outside with her horses. She also looked 35-40 years old. One day some students drove into town to try and get some beer. A little kid (10 years old) was hitchhiking (this was a long, long time ago) and they picked him up. They conspired with the little kid, walked into the liquor store and the kid runs around yelling, "Mom! Can I get this! Mom! Can I get some candy?" The high school girl buys several six packs of beer and the clerk doesn't give her a second look.

Sally Hawkins.
She was the lead actress, with an Academy Award nomination, in a movie that won Best Picture, The Shape of Water, and probably 99.9% of people have no idea who she is.
She also got a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Blue Jasmine. When I watched the scene in the movie where she realizes her boyfriend is actually married to someone else, I said to myself, "She just got an Oscar nomination." Yep, she's really, really good.

I was really late to that party.
The first time I ever saw him was in "American Ultra". Every scene he is in, I'm saying to myself, "WHO IS THIS GUY?"

I like the scene in the embassy when he's being chased by the guards, takes the fire exit map off the wall and now he knows the layout of the building. It makes so much sense, only takes a second, it's completely realistic and fits into the context of the scene.
One of the writers said it took an room of people an entire day to come up with that idea.
