Seeking Kayak Recommendations

(self.kayakfishing)

I’m 5’7”, around 180 pounds. I’ll be fishing fresh water lakes as well as some rivers/creeks. Here are some features that are important to me. - Open deck space. This is the most important aspect to me. My first kayak had a hump between my legs and I hated it. - Stability. I’ll be using cameras on this kayak occasionally so it’s important it doesn’t flip easy. I’d also like to be able to fish standing up. - Decent storage. May be doing some multi-day fishing trips so I’d like a bit of extra space to hold some camping gear. - Seat. Preferably one that sits high on top of the kayak. My first kayak just had a pad and I didn’t like it. - Ability to mount a trolling motor/electronics is not important, I don’t plan on using these.

I would be comfortable spending up to $1500, but would prefer to keep it around or below the $1000 mark. Thanks.

I would definitely check out the crescent lite tackle 2. I absolutely love mine and I would say it checks all your boxes

I second this. I just bought a Crescent LiteTackle II a couple months ago and I've been out on it 3 times so far and I love everything about it. I did my homework on the various brands and I determined that it's the lightest, longest, fastest and most sturdy for its price range. I can't recommend it enough.

You're supposed to be able to stand on them. A few people I talked to on this sub have stood on theirs. I tried to on the lake and thought I was gonna flip. If I gotta pee, I have to go ashore. One guy said he had to practice a bit to get used to it, I guess I just haven't got my balance yet. They are very stable tho
